Who We Are

Welcome to the Weekend Call. We are a student-led initiative started by high schoolers that hosts short, interactive online sessions focused on health and science topics alongside STEM tutoring for teenagers. Our goal is to help middle and high school students better understand how science  connects to their everyday lives.

Our Mission

The Weekend Call aims to help teenagers understand health and science concepts that affect their everyday lives in a clear, approachable, and engaging way

Why We Started

We realized that many students often encounter science and health topics in school without full understanding why they matter. We wanted to create a safe, fun, and pressure-free space where teens could ask questions, explore topics, and engage with what is happening in the world around them.

What We Do

We host free, weekly online seminars on a wide variety of health and science topics, designed to spark curiosity and encourage questions. Alongside seminars, we offer one-on-one STEM tutoring for students who want extra support at no cost. Through educational fundraisers, we provide resources like textbooks, STEM kits, and supplies to schools and learning spaces that could benefit from them. Occasionally, we bring in guest speakers to the virtual seminars from the science and health fields to give students insight into real-world applications.

We hope to improve health literacy among students by breaking down everyday health and science topics into explanations that students can actually question, understand and apply. We aim to empower teenagers through accessible academic support and health awareness to promote informed decision-making. We combine peer tutoring with health seminars to help students succeed both academically and in their everyday lives.

SCIENCE MADE SIMPLE

Our Story

The Weekend Call was founded in the summer of 2026 by two high school students sharing a curiosity in science and a desire to make learning health topics approachable for teenagers. We both noticed that many teens, including ourselves, often felt confused by health and science concepts presented in school. While we loved learning about the human body and its components, the lessons were often rushed or disconnected from everyday life. We wanted to change that.  Although our initiative began as a simple goal to teach others,  we decided to start hosting virtual sessions where students could explore curious topics, ask questions, and learn in a low-pressure and collaborative environment. We expanded to include STEM tutoring where we could offer more personalized support for students who wanted to build their confidence in learning. For us, The Weekend Call is an opportunity to encourage curiosity, make science relatable, and inspire others to understand concepts in a new way. Looking forward, we hope to continue growing The weekend Call by reaching more students, adding more seminars, expanding our tutoring network, and supporting schools with meaningful resources. Our goal is to create an ongoing community led by students where teenagers can come together to learn about the world of health and science that surrounds us.
